Words On Marble

Comrades, let me also remind us again that the struggle for our Unions is the struggle for our life .It is the struggle for our freedom and the welfare of the people of our nation. It is a struggle against evil and the greed and insensitivity of the privileged few. It is a struggle for equity and Justice.

It is a continuous struggle and we must not relent AT ALL because those who benefit from evil, injustice and oppression are NOT relenting. That is why we say and sing ALUTA CONTINUA and rekindle our believe that VICTORIA ACERTA.

Comrade Hyginus Chika Onuegbu.

The excellent leadership prowess of the Fourth Administrative Council brought the relatively unknown TUC out of obscurity to become a revered Trade Center in the state.

TUC Rivers State undoubtedly became one of the best-organized State Councils of the TUC in Nigeria within this period. It is on record that TUC Rivers was instrumental in the establishment of the National Industrial Court in Port Harcourt with the assistance of the then-state governor, HE Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and the guidance of Chief Milton Dabibi, one of our former Secretary Generals and Justice Babatunde Adenuro Adejumo.

Again the shift from Adversarial labour-management relations to genuine partnership-driven labour-management relations which has become more beneficial to both labour and employers including by extension, the national economy necessitated the 4th State Administrative Council to focus its resources on capacity development. TUC within this period went into partnership with the Michael Imodu Institute of Labour Studies (MIILS) and the Federal Ministry of labour Port Harcourt together with these partners they embarked on massive training and development projects which underscored the importance of continuous improvement in the capacity of our labour leaders.
