Meet the State Chairman

It is a honour and privilege for me to serve as the State Chairman of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), Rivers State Council. Infact, I see it as a great duty that requires fortitude, resilience, sacrifices, courage, and all of our energies to get the task properly done. The task of leadership is a collective one and as there are many mountains I want you to know that we have mountains to climb, be guaranteed that I recognize the magnitude of our challenge, the gravity of our situation and most importantly we will collectively get to the peak together.
My solemn promise to all of us is that I will represent you optimally because I know how much this matters to all of us. We will do it with a fresh start, a new set of priorities and a new way of governance.

Who We Are

The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) is a Labour Center for Senior Staff Associations in Nigeria. the state council was created in line with rule 10 of the Constitution of TUC Nigeria. The Rivers State Council is responsible for overseeing the activities and programmes of TUC in Rivers state.

What We Do

As a responsible Labor Center, we build the capacity of our affiliate unions and members and encourage them to work collaboratively to solve challenges in their various industries, including but not limited to workforce skills development.Also preparing them for job-skills shift.

Our Objectives

Our main Objectives are to promote rights at work, encourage decent employment opportunities, enhance social protection and strengthen dialogue on work-related issues. Our structures give equal voice to workers, employers and governments to advance the cause for industrial harmony.

What the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, Rivers State Council Represent

The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), Rivers State Council Represent the Common interest of all Senior Staff Associations in Rivers State. In doing this the Labour Center upholds the tenet of Social Justice.

Good Governance

The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) Rivers State Council embarks on Good governance initiatives which inclusive of advocacy for legal reform, public awareness on national and international legal frameworks, and capacity-building in institutions.

Social and Economic Justice

We advocate for organizations and governments to promote equal rights, opportunities, and treatment for all workers in their work places and also to incorporate economic justice into their Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) strategy.

Prosperity of Workers

TUC Rivers State will develop an evidence-based playbook of strategies to expand worker opportunities, decrease economic barriers and social challenges in labor markets, and ensure that all employees benefit from technological progress and economic growth.

What We Do

Industrial Relations

The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), Rivers State Council seeks to improve working conditions and ensure job security while protecting its members against inhumane, unjust, and unfair treatment by management at work.

Research and Development

The Labour Center's analysis of government spending, services, and policies is made possible by research and development, which gives the congress knowledge to make informed decisions. The analysis is based on analysis of the economic and social challenges faced by labor unions.

Protection of Jobs

Job security has always been a key benefit to being part of a union, as unions we typically work with employers to preserve jobs of our members, especially during hard times when a layoff may be necessary. Since non-union workers are typically hired "at will" and without a union contract behind them, they can be fired for no particular reason.
