    Welcome Message

    The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, Rivers State Council (TUC) provides a platform on which workers, employers and governments speak with one voice to ensure that the views of all social partners are closely reflected in labour standards and in shaping policies and programmes that affect the welfare of workers and work environment.
    We are focused on ensuring that we serve the needs of workers by bringing together governments, employers and workers to set labour standards, develop policies and devise programmes that are of mutual interest to both employers of labour and the employees. The structure of Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, promotes the values of social dialogue and industrial harmony among stake holders.
    The State Council is committed to building a greater Rivers State and Nigeria that will be a haven for workers and employees.

    What We Do

    The State Council of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria performs the underlisted functions:

    1. Transact the business of Trade Union Congress of Nigeria at the State levels as guided by the Central Working Committee (CWC).
    2. Monitor all industrial developments in Rivers State.
    3. Perform whatever additional duties that may be assigned to us from time to time by the affiliates in Rivers state collectively and the Central Working Committee (CWC).

    4. Serve as effective link between the affiliates in our area of jurisdiction.

    5. Ensure that the Congress policies are widely known, understood and implemented and generally strengthen the Congress within our jurisdiction.

    6. Encourage women's participation in trade unionism by Creating Women's wing under the supervision of the state council.

    Rivers State Administrative Council

    The State Administrative Council (SAC) of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) Rivers State Council is Headed by. Comrade Austin ThankGod Jonah, of ASCSN. The present State Administrative Council was inaugurated on the 21st of July 2016 at the 5th Triennial State Delegates Conference of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria Rivers State Council in Port Harcourt by the Secretary General of TUC Comrade S. Amachree


    Amongst those inaugurated are:

    • State Vice Chairman: Comrade Chris Mbata PhD of Nigerian Union of Pharmacists, Medical Technologists & Profession Allied to Medicine.
    • State Secretary General: Comrade Charles Chima Igwe of PENGASSAN
    • Treasurer: Comrade Beatrice Fombo of the Association of Senior Staff of Banks Insurance and Financial Institutions (ASSBIFI).

    The Present State Administrative Councils' tenure of three (3) years shall run till 2019 when a new State Administrative Council shall be inaugurated

Both at National headquarters and at the Rivers State Council Secretariat the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria - publishes a wide variety of manuals, brochures and practical guides on a broad spectrum of issues of interest to workers.


Democracy Watch

Trade Union Congress of Nigeria has been in the forefront for the demand for good governance, transparency, accountability, respect for the rule of law, due process and increased action against corruption, not only for Nigerian worker but Nigerians at large.


Human Capacity Development and Training

To promote a cordial work-atmosphere TUC Rivers has engaged her various affiliates in a series of human capacity building and training. This which is done in partnership with most of the biggest names in the industry.
